What is considered an economic activity?
Economic activity refers to the types of activities outlined in the National Classifier of Georgia, approved by the LEPL National Statistics Office of Georgia. Registration of economic activities is optional, except for cases mandated by law.
Georgian legislation specifies certain economic activities that must be registered in the Economic Activities Registry. These include:
- Activities subject to the requirements of the Food/Animal Feed Safety, Veterinary, and Plant Protection Code.
- Activities under the "Law on Public Health."
- Activities under the "Law on Labor Migration."
- High-risk, heavy, harmful, and hazardous work as defined by the "Law on Labor Safety" and approved by a decree of the Government of Georgia.
You can view the detailed list of these activities, including their codes from the National Classifier, at this link:https://www.napr.gov.ge/ka/single-page/activities-requiring-registration
Registration and Required Documentation/Information
To register an economic activity, an authorized person must submit an application to the agency, along with information completed in accordance with the National Classifier of Georgia, as approved by the LEPL National Statistics Office of Georgia. The information should specify the exact type of activity to be registered and the address of the place where the activity is conducted. Additionally, the following documents must be provided:
- The applicant's identification document.
- Documentation confirming the applicant's authority (if the applicant is not the interested party).
You can find the National Classifier of Georgia at this link: https://www.napr.gov.ge/ka/single-page/national-classifier
It is important to indicate the location (address) where the specific type of economic activity is conducted. This may include one or multiple locations. If a single entity operates various activities at different locations, each type of activity must be listed along with its corresponding address. If the registration application does not specify the location (address) of the economic activity, it is assumed that the activity is conducted at the entity's legal address.
Validity Period
The registration of economic activities is valid for one year from the date of registration. Expiration of the registration period results in the decision losing its validity unless the interested party submits a request for extension to the agency.
Cancellation of Registration
The registration of economic activities can be canceled if the entity applies to the agency for its cancellation. Registration is also subject to cancellation in other cases stipulated by law.
